Chlorogenic acid is an organic compound with the chemical formula C16H18O9. It is one of the main antibacterial and antiviral effective pharmacological components of honeysuckle. The hemihydrate is a needle-shaped crystal (water). It becomes an anhydrous compound at 110ºC. The solubility in water at 25ºC is 4%, and the solubility is greater in hot water. It is easily soluble in ethanol and acetone, and very slightly soluble in ethyl acetate.
