Silymarin

Silymarin, a natural flavonoid lignan compound, is extracted from the dried fruit of milk thistle, a plant in the asteraceae family. Its main components are silybin, isosilybin, silydianin and silychristin. Silymarin is insoluble in water, easily soluble in acetone, ethyl acetate, methanol ethanol, slightly soluble in chloroform.
Silymarin is a kind of flavonoid complex consisting of silybin, silydianin, and silychrisin, derived from the milk thistle plant. It is a kind of potent antioxidant, anti-cancer agent as well as liver protecting agent.
