Hydroxocobalamin (OHCbl, or B12a) is a naturally occurring form of vitamin B12, or a member of the vitamin B12 family. It is a member of the cobalamin family of compounds. Many of the bacteria used to commercially produce vitamin B12 produce the hydroxocobalamin form of vitamin B12. Hydroxocobalamin is dark red in color. Vitamin B12 in the human body is not normally present in the hydroxocobalamin form. However, in the body, hydroxocobalamin is readily converted to the useful coenzyme form of vitamin B12. The pharmaceutical product hydroxocobalamin is a sterile injectable solution used to treat vitamin deficiency and also to treat cyanide poisoning (because it has an affinity for cyanide ions). Hydroxocobalamin has also been tried as a  scavenger.

Hydroxocobalamin is used to treat pernicious anemia, megaloblastic anemia, neuralgia, liver parenchymal damage and contact dermatitis. It is also an antidote for cyanide.
