Ectoin is derived from Halomonas Elongata and is therefore called a salt-tolerant extract.Under extreme conditions of high salt, high temperature, and high ultraviolet radiation, ectoin protects halophilic bacteria from harm.Studies have shown that ecdoine also has a good repair and protection effect on the skin, and is one of the biological engineering agents used in high-end cosmetics.

Good moisturizing properties
Ecdoine pretreats the skin and reduces the skin damage caused by dehydration. One molecule of Ectoine can complex four or five water molecules, which can structure the free water in the cell. Compared with glycerin, ecdoine is more moisturizing to the skin. Relevant data show that during the application of Ectoine, the skin moisture retention ability can continue to improve, and the skin water retention ability will not immediately decline after stopping, and the skin water retention ability is higher than that of the control group after stopping for a week.
Antioxidant effect
Clinical trials have shown that ectodoine can prevent the weakening trend of the antioxidant capacity of cells with the increase of age, and has a certain antioxidant capacity. Experimental data showed that the combination of 0.1mMEctoine, 0.5mM maltioneine and 1.5mM mannitol could reduce the DNA single strand break of human glia cells at 400-800nm light source, reduce the ROS oxidation reaction intensity, and thus reduce the oxidative damage of light on the skin.
