Corosonic acid is derived from the extract of Lagerstroemia grandiflora (commonly known as Barnabas and abundant in the Philippine Islands). The in vivo and in vitro experimental results indicate that Corosonic acid promotes the absorption and utilization of glucose by cells by stimulating glucose transport, thereby achieving its hypoglycemic effect.
