Product Description

Moxifloxacin, with the molecular formula of C21H24FN3O4, is a nearly white crystalline powder at room temperature. It is poorly soluble in water, slightly soluble in ethanol. Moxifloxacin belongs to the quinolone class of drugs and is clinically used to treat adults (≥18 years old) with upper and lower respiratory tract infections, such as acute sinusitis, acute exacerbation of chronic bronchitis, community-acquired pneumonia, and skin and soft tissue infections.

Moxifloxacin is a synthetic quinolone antibiotic, a relatively new class of synthetic antibiotics. It has the advantages of strong antibacterial activity, a wide range of antibacterial activity, low resistance to drugs, effective against common drug-resistant bacteria, long half-life, and few adverse reactions.

Moxifloxacin treats adults with upper and lower respiratory tract infections, such as acute sinusitis, acute exacerbation of chronic bronchitis, community-acquired pneumonia, and skin and soft tissue infections.

Moxifloxacin is well absorbed after oral administration, with a bioavailability of approximately 90%. [2] Peak activity is reached in 0.5 to 4 hours. Moxifloxacin administration is not affected by food intake. The half-life is 12 hours. Co-administration with divalent or trivalent cationic antacids can significantly reduce absorption. It is not metabolized by cytochrome P450 enzymes. This reduces the possibility of drug interactions. 45% is metabolized by the kidneys and 52% by the liver. No dose adjustment is required for patients with renal impairment and mild hepatic insufficiency.
