Sodium Desoxycholate is white crystalline powder. It smells like bile. It has a strong bitter taste. It is hygroscopic. It is easily soluble in water.
Sodium deoxycholate has pharmacological effects such as choleretic, lipid-lowering, anti-fatty liver, anti-inflammatory, and promoting bile secretion. This product is a choleretic drug and patients should use it under the guidance of a physician.
1. Choleretic
Cholesterol is because sodium deoxycholate can reduce the concentration of cholesterol and calcium salts in bile, reduce their crystallization, and thus prevent the formation of gallstones. This product can increase bile flow and pressure in the bile duct, relax the sphincter of Oddi, and facilitate bile excretion. It is suitable for discomfort symptoms caused by diseases such as chronic cholecystitis and gallstones.
2. Lipid-lowering
Lipid-lowering is because sodium deoxycholate has the effect of lowering serum total cholesterol, which can inhibit the activity of cholesterol synthase system, and then affect the key enzymes in the metabolism of cell membrane phospholipids. For patients with hyperlipidemia, oral medication can be used for treatment to achieve the purpose of controlling the disease.
3. Anti-fatty liver
Anti-fatty liver is mainly because sodium deoxycholate can promote the metabolism and utilization of fat by the liver, which helps to reduce the deposition of fat in the liver. For patients with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, the above drugs can be taken under the guidance of a physician to improve the condition.
4. Anti-inflammatory
The anti-inflammatory effect comes from the fact that sodium deoxycholate can regulate the immune response, inhibit macrophage activation and the expression of inflammatory factors. For patients with chronic cholecystitis or biliary infection, the use of this drug under the advice of a doctor can reduce the inflammatory response.
5. Promote bile secretion
The promotion of bile secretion is due to the fact that sodium deoxycholate can stimulate the release of cholecystokinin, indirectly promoting gallbladder contraction and bile emptying. For situations that require the promotion of bile secretion, such as indigestion, the above drugs can be used under the guidance of a physician for treatment.
It should be noted that sodium deoxycholate must be used as prescribed by a doctor, and the dose cannot be changed or discontinued at will. At the same time, pregnant and lactating women should use it with caution to avoid unnecessary risks.

Uses
Prepare bacterial culture medium, replace phospholipids for cholesterol floc test, protein analysis.
The role of sodium deoxycholate and sodium orthovanadate in lysis buffer
The former is an ionic detergent, and the latter inhibits the activity of tyrosine phosphatase.
The main functions of ionic detergents are:
1. Lyse cells;
2. Dissolve proteins, especially some proteins that are difficult to dissolve in water, such as membrane proteins;
3. Very suitable for WB, but use in Co-IP, need to be cautious.
