Jujuboside B (Spina Date Seed) comes from the seeds of the Rhamnaceae plant Ziziphus jujuba, also known as jujube kernel and jujube kernel. It has the effects of nourishing the liver, calming the mind, tranquilizing the nerves, and astringing sweat. It is mainly used to treat insomnia, palpitations, thirst, and sweating.

Zijuboside contains two triterpenoid compounds (betulin and betulinic acid) and jujubosides and aglycones. It has been proven that jujuboside has the following pharmacological effects:

· Sedative and hypnotic effects
It has sedative and hypnotic effects in both normal and induced states, day or night, and has synergistic effects with barbiturates; but it cannot antagonize  poisoning in rabbits.

· Analgesic, anticonvulsant, and cooling effects
It has been proven that jujuboside has analgesic effects and has a cooling effect on mice whether injected or orally, but it cannot antagonize experimental electric shock.

· Effects on the cardiovascular system
Jujuboside can cause a continuous decrease in blood pressure and heart block.

· Effect on burns
Jujube seeds alone or in combination with Schisandra chinensis can improve the survival rate of scalded mice and prolong their survival time. They can also delay the occurrence of burn shock in rats and prolong their survival time, and reduce local edema in burnt mice.

Jujube seeds are actually non-toxic substances. There are no toxic symptoms when 150 g/kg of Jujube seeds are given to mice by oral administration. The chronic toxicity experiment of rats has proved that its toxicity is extremely low. The median lethal dose of intraperitoneal injection in mice is 14.33±2.015 g/kg.

Pharmacological effects: Jujuboside B has the effects of nourishing the heart and calming the mind, sedation and hypnosis, anti-arrhythmia, anti-myocardial ischemia, and has a certain antihypertensive effect.
