Indolebutyric acid (IBA) is a synthetic plant growth regulator, mainly used to promote plant rooting and improve the survival rate of cuttings. It is suitable for the reproduction of various plants such as fruit trees, flowers, and forest trees. It has a mild effect. Low concentrations promote rooting, while high concentrations may inhibit growth. The usage and dosage need to be adjusted according to the plant species.
Promote rooting 1.
Indolebutyric acid accelerates adventitious root growth by stimulating cell division and root primordium formation at the incision of plants, especially for branches with a high degree of lignification. For example, using it when cutting roses and grapes can increase the survival rate.

Enhance stress resistance 2.
The treated plants have more developed roots and enhanced ability to absorb water and nutrients, which helps to adapt to environmental changes after transplanting and reduce the time for seedlings to grow.

Assist tissue culture 3.
In plant tissue culture, it is often used in combination with cytokinins to induce callus tissue to differentiate into roots and improve the transplant success rate of tissue culture seedlings.

Correct Usage

Solution Preparation1.
Indolebutyric acid is difficult to dissolve in water. It needs to be dissolved with a small amount of alcohol or  solution first, and then diluted with water to the target concentration.

Immersion method: suitable for tender branches or semi-lignified branches. Soak the base of the cuttings in a 10-100mg/L solution (the concentration varies depending on the plant) for about 6-24 hours.
Quick Dipping Method: For lignified branches. Dip the base of the cuttings with a 500-1000mg/L high-concentration solution for 3-5 seconds, dry it, and then cut it.

Powder Treatment2.
Mix indolebutyric acid with talcum powder to make rooting powder. Dip the base of the cuttings in the powder and then cut it. It is suitable for large-scale seedling cultivation.

Spraying or irrigating roots3.
Spraying plants or irrigating the soil with a low-concentration solution (such as 5-20mg/L) before transplanting can promote the germination of new roots after planting.
