Enramycin is obtained by fermentation of Streptomyces fungicidicus. It is a polypeptide antibiotic that combines unsaturated fatty acids with more than a dozen amino acids. The main components are enramycin A and B, which are used in the form of hydrochloride. White or slightly yellowish white powder (the crude product is gray or grayish brown powder with a special odor). Decomposes at 234-238ºC.

Enramycin has strong activity against Gram-positive bacteria, especially against harmful Clostridium in the intestine. It is not easy to develop drug resistance after long-term use because it changes the bacterial flora in the intestine, so it has a good effect on the utilization of nutrients in feed, which can promote weight gain of pigs and chickens and improve feed conversion rate. The oral LD50 of enramycin for rats and mice is 10g per kilogram of body weight, and for 4-week-old broilers, it is 522.9mg. However, the LD50 of enramycin (coarse crystal) added to feed is 11g per kilogram of body weight for rats and mice and 8g for broilers after oral administration. The teratogenicity and mutagenicity tests are negative. After oral administration, enramycin only remains in the digestive tract to play a role and is not easily absorbed. 6 to 12 hours after administration to broilers, 87.0% to 100% of enramycin is excreted in the feces, and the residual amount in piglets is very small. After continuous use for 1 week, the residual amount in each tissue on the same day after stopping the drug is less than 25μg/kg. After enramycin is excreted in the feces of chickens and pigs, it has no toxic effects on crops, fish and the environment. Therefore, it is a safe and effective antibiotic for animals. Enramycin is stored at 40ºC for 4 months, and the potency remains above 90%, but the potency is reduced when the humidity is high. Enramycin added to feed is stored at room temperature for 12 weeks, and the potency is not less than 90%.

Application & Funtion

Advantages and features

(1) Adding a small amount of enramycin to the feed can have a good effect in promoting growth and significantly improving feed conversion.
(2) Enramycin can show good antibacterial effect against Gram-positive bacteria under both aerobic and anaerobic conditions. Enramycin is highly active against Clostridium perfringens, the main cause of growth inhibition and necrotic enteritis in pigs and chickens.
(3) Enramycin has no cross-resistance.
(4) Enramycin resistance develops very slowly, and Clostridium perfringens resistant to enramycin has not yet been isolated.
(5) Because enramycin is not absorbed in the intestine, there is no need to worry about drug residues and there is no withdrawal period.
(6) Enramycin has stable performance in feed and remains active even during the processing of pellet feed.
(7) Enramycin can reduce the occurrence of loose stools in chickens.
(8) Enramycin can inhibit producing microorganisms, thereby reducing the concentration of in the intestines and blood of pigs and chickens, thereby reducing the concentration in the livestock house.
(9) Enramycin can alleviate the clinical symptoms of coccidiosis, which may be due to its strong inhibitory effect on anaerobic bacteria that cause secondary infections.
