Description

Chymotrypsin is a Proteolytic enzyme. It can priority hydrolyze tyrosine containing L-isomer, phenylalanine and the peptide bond of tryptophan, the best effective condition is PH 8.0. Its activity can be restrained by heavy metal or natural Trypsin inhibitor in some degrees.
Chymotrypsin is also called chymotrypsinogen.
Chymotrypsin is the endopeptidase extracted and separated from the fresh pancreas of cows (or pigs).
Primary structure and spatial structure of α- Chymotrypsin have been clearly explained, which is a single peptide chain composed of 245 amino acid residues, with 5 pairs of disulfide linkage in the molecule.
Chymotrypsin is white and light yellow crystal or amorphous powder, and easily soluble in the water, but insoluble in organic solvent. Relative molecular mass is 24000, and the optimum PH is 8~9.
Chymotrypsin is stable at a dry state, but will be quickly deactivated in water solution, most stable in the water solution with PH3~4. When it acts on the protein, Chymotrypsin will hydrolyze the peptide bond formed by the carboxyl of L-tyrosine and L-phenylalanine in priority.

Function

1.Chymotrypsin used for all kinds of inflammation, ulcer, gangrene, wound, partial abscess caused by the atrophy hole, edema, hematoma and poisonous snake bite and other disease. In the surgery, it used for treat ringworm scabies and other skin disease. In the internal medicine, it used for empyema, emphysema, bronchitis, bronchial breathing and other disease.

Application

1). For ophthalmology to relax the ciliary ligament, reduce traumatic iridocyclitis; also can be used for cataract extraction, making the crystal easy to remove.
2). For wound healing or post-operative wound healing, anti-inflammatory and prevent local edema, hemorrhage, sprained hematoma, edema after breast surgery, otitis media, rhinitis.
