Tangeretin is a polymethoxyflavone extracted mainly from the rind of citrus fruits such as sweet orange and Chinese tangerine In in vitro and in vivo studies, tangeretin exerts its anticancer effects by modulating different pathways in several cancer types. It also has antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and estrogenic properties. Tangeretin is a flavonoid found in the peel of citrus fruits that is most likely to be naturally resistant to fungi. Tangerine has been shown to counteract tumour promoter-induced inhibition of intercellular communication and to inhibit cell proliferation in several cancer cells.
